Registration open for youth forum on coastal issues

Young peoples' visions for the future of their coastal communities will be a vital part of Coastal Zone Canada 2010 (CZC 2010), to be held on Prince Edward Island this July. Young people (age 16-26) are invited to particpate in Youth on the Coast, July 23-25, just prior to CZC 2010.

The youth forum will be held in beautiful seaside South Rustico, PEI. Approximately 50 young people will be selected to share skills and perspectives and create a series of short videos that will carry their concerns and call to action to the Coastal Zone Canada conference.

Nomination Deadline Approaching for URock Volunteer Awards

In just two weeks, the nomination period for the URock Volunteer Awards will close. The Honourable Dave Denine, Minister Responsible for the Volunteer and Non-Profit Sector, today reminded the public to nominate individuals and organizations for the awards by Monday, March 15. The unique URock Volunteer Awards will recognize the contributions of young volunteers and organizations with a connection to young people.
New open-access non-profit journal launched

The Association for Nonprofit and Social Economy Research (ANSER) has just launched its open access peer-reviewed journal, Canadian Journal of Nonprofit and Social Economy Research. ANSER is inviting submissions to be published in the first issue in Fall 2010.

Governor General’s Caring Canadian Awards presented today

On behalf of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, His Honour the Honourable John C. Crosbie, Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, will present the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award to three volunteers at a ceremony at Government House, St. John’s, tomorrow (Friday, February 12) at 11:00 a.m.
Coastal Zone Canada 2010: Call for papers, registration now open

Coastal Zone Canada 2010 (CZC 2010) is being held in Charlottetown, P.E.I. from July 23-29, 2010 on the important subject of integrated coastal and ocean management. All marine & coastal researchers, policymakers, watershed and environmental organizations concerned about water and the marine environment, and community development groups are invited to register or submit papers. The deadline to submit abstracts is February 26, 2010.
