The Clusters Project is an exciting opportunity for voluntary, non profit groups all around the Cabot Loop to collaborate on matters of common interest. Among the priority issues already identified is the challenge of recruiting volunteers for community activities and to serve on boards and committees. People also want to learn more about what other organizations are doing.
The Community Services Council Newfoundland and Labrador (CSC) is working with local organizations to build a network across the Cabot Loop to support voluntary organizations and volunteers to:
- recruit and retain volunteers and board members
- share information, strengthen relationships and create learning opportunities
- encourage new volunteer leadership skills.
By connecting across groups and across communities we will highlight the wonderful work and activities of voluntary organizations.
School Contact
The Cabot Loop Clusters facilitator has been in contact with guidance counselors in local schools. plans are being made to engage youth around volunteer issues and to link youth with organizations in the community. Likewise, work will be done to help organizations to engage youth. This wil be accomplished through a mini pilot project.
Capacity Buildingi
Cabot Loop Clusters is working on identifying the skills, interests and talents of people in part of the Cabot Loop area to help match volunteers with organizations and possibly generate self employment.
