Vibrant Communities
The Community Sector Council Newfoundland and Labrador is leading a local effort to reduce poverty in low income neighbourhoods of St. John’s. Part of a nation-wide program sponsored by Tamarack Institute and funded by the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation and Human Resources and Social Development Canada, Vibrant Communities brings together people living in poverty, government, the voluntary sector and the private sector to develop solution collaboratively.

About Vibrant Communities St. John's
Vibrant Communities – St. John’s is a multi-sector community based initiative which seeks to reduce poverty by working collaboratively with voluntary organizations, non profits, all levels of government, businesses and especially with people who live with low income/poverty.
CapaCITIES
capaCITIES™ is a leadership course offered through Vibrant Communities St. John's. The course has 50 graduates to date. The Fall 2010 session finished up on November 13.
Childcare Initiative
Access to good quality, affordable childcare is a very real barrier that contributes to poverty. Vibrant Communities facilitates a policy and action network around childcare and early learning to work more collaboratively around research, engaging parents, exploring innovative, community-based models for childcare, raising awareness and policy discussion.
Citizens’ Voice
Citizens' Voice provides a solution-based discussion forum for people living with low income/poverty, bringing them together to meet on a regular basis in a sharing and supportive environment.
Makin' it Work!
A new approach to matching unemployed adults with employers who need to hire. This model is employer focused, community and neighbourhood-based and client-centered.
Reducing Barriers Policy Forums
Vibrant Communities St. John’s will engage partners from all sectors in a series of solution-focused dialogue around how we can reduce the barriers that exist for people trying to transition from income support to employment.
