    3335Community sector representatives and special guests gathered on December 5th, 2011 at Corpus Christi Parish Hall, for the Community Sector Council NL’s Annual Volunteerism Luncheon. This event celebrates the contributions of the 197,000 active volunteers in Newfoundland and Labrador who contribute over 35 million hours of service every year.

    cake-cuttingThe 2nd Annual Burin Peninsula Regional Volunteer Week Reception was a great success again this year.  Held on April 19th at the Royal Canadian Legion in Burin, this event was an opportunity to celebrate the many volunteers of the region who contribute so much to our communities and to our daily quality of life.

    The 3rd Annual Cabot Loop Volunteer Week Reception was held on April 15 to recognize and say thanks to the many volunteers of the region.  Almost 200 people from all over the Cabot Loop Area, on the tip of the Bonavista Peninsula, attended the event in Port Union.

About 46.5% of Newfoundland and Labrador residents volunteer - that’s about 197,000 people. They give a lot, an average of 176 hours annually. They promote our arts and culture, provide essential services, protect our environment, coach our children, contribute to economic development, empower our youth and raise money for charitable services. They give their time, skills and talents to the service of others and to make our communities better places to live.
